Piqua's main water supply is obtained from surface water into the hydraulic canal and lakes.  However, ground water is also available which will be  safer and easier to treat.

Miami County has access to ground water that ranges in the area of between 5 to 100 gallons per minute and, in some instances, over 100 gallons per minute.
